Easy Crochet Stitches Patterns:

Block Stitch:

This is the first stitch in our list and probably the easiest one. This stitch pattern is the combination of just three basic stitches. You can use 2 and more colours for this. To make it more colourful you can use a different colour in each row.

Abbreviations:

  • ch __ chain
  • sc __ single crochet
  • dc __ double crochet

Material:

  • aran yarn in any colour of your choice.
  • 4mm hook size

Pattern:

make a chain that is a multiple of 3 plus 5 stitches. For example start with ch 20.

Row 1: skip 4 ch (count as 1st ch and dc), 1dc in each ch across the row. (14 dc)

Row 2: change colour and start from right side. ch1, 1sc in between 1st and 2nd dc, ch2, 1sc after 3sts. Repeat across the row. (5 sc)

Repeat the sequence of row 1 and 2 till desired length.

Brick stitch:

It is block’s stitch look-a-like but in real it is slightly different form that. If you want a textured blanket than brick stitch is the best option. You need to learn a new basic stitch called front post double crochet.

Abbreviations:

  • ch __ chain
  • sc __ single crochet
  • dc __ double crochet
  • fpdc __ front post double crochet

Material:

  • aran yarn in any colour of your choice.
  • 4mm hook size

Pattern:

make a chain that is a multiple of 3 plus 2 stitches. For example start with ch 20.

Row 1: skip 1 ch, 1sc in 2nd ch from hook. *ch2, skip 2 ch, 1sc in 3rd ch*, repeat from * to * across the row. (7 sc)

Row 2: change colour. ch3 (count as 1st dc), 2dc in ch1 space, 1fpdc in next st. repeat across the row. (19 dc)

Repeat the sequence of row 1 and 2 till desired length.

Granny Spike Stitch:

Granny spike stitch, may looks complicated but it is very easy to make. This stitch contains only 2 basic stitches. You can also make it more colourful by changing colors.

Abbreviations:

  • ch __ chain
  • dc cluster __ 3 double crochet in same stitch

Material:

  • dk yarn in any colour of your choice.
  • 4mm hook size

Pattern:

make a chain that is a multiple of 4 plus 4 stitches. For example start with ch 24.

Row 1: count 3 ch as 1st dc, 2dc in 4th ch from hook, *ch1, skip 3 ch, dc cluster in 4th ch*, repeat from * to * across the row. (6 dc clusters)

Row 2: change colour. ch3 (count as 1st dc), *ch1, make dc cluster in ch 2 space (make 1st and 3rd dc in ch space of row 2 but middle dc of cluster in 2nd ch we left in row 1)*. Repeat from * to * across the row. End with 1dc. (5 dc cluster)

Row 3: ch3, 2dc in ch1 space (count as 1 dc cluster), make middle dc in middle dc or row 1, ch1, dc cluster in next ch space. (6 dc cluster)

Repeat the sequence of row 2 and and till desired length.
