I hope after our previous Blog, now you all are able to crochet basic stitch patterns. Let’s move forward to some advance stitches. These crochet stitches are also easy and blend of some easy techniques. These stitch pattern can be use in making of many projects such as shawls, blankets and shirts. You can use these stitches in making of cushion covers and table runners as well.

Advance Stitches Patterns:

Crochet Grid Stitch:

As we add block stitch in our previous blog, plaid stitch is also an easy stitch pattern. You just need to know three basic stitches to learn crochet plaid stitch pattern. The best method to crochet plaid is to use two or three different colors.

Abbreviations:

  • ch __ chain
  • sc __ single crochet
  • dc __ double crochet

Material:

  • dk yarn in any colour of your choice.
  • 4mm hook size

Pattern:

  • make a chain that is a multiple of 4 plus 3 stitches. For example start with ch 19.
  • Row 1: skip 4 ch (count as 1st ch and 1dc), *2dc, ch2, skip 2 ch*, repeat form * to * across the row. End with 3dc. (10 dc)
  • Row 2: change colour. ch1, 1sc, *ch2, 2dc in ch we skipped in row 1*. Repeat from * to * across the row. End with 1sc. (6 dc, 2sc)
  • Row 3: ch1, 1sc. *2dc in ch2 space of row 2, ch2*. repeat from * to * across the row. End with 1sc. (8dc, 2sc)
  • Repeat the sequence of row 2 and 3 till desired length.

Larksfoot Stitch:

Now I’m sharing with you how to do the larksfoot crochet stitch. If you know how make double crochet and chain, you’re golden! Grab your favorite yarn and hook and let’s get after it.

Abbreviations:

  • ch __ chain
  • dc __ double crochet
  • edc __ extended double crochet

Material:

  • dk yarn in any colour of your choice.
  • 4mm hook size

Pattern:

  • make a chain that is a multiple of 4 plus 6 stitches. For example start with ch 30.
  • Row 1: skip 3 ch (count as 1st ch and 1dc), 2dc, *ch1, skip 1 ch, 3dc*, repeat form * to * across the row. (21 dc)
  • Row 2: repeat row 1.
  • Row 3: ch3 (count as 1st dc), *ch1, 1dc, 1edc in ch1 space of row 1, 1dc*. Repeat from * to * across the row. End with ch1, 1dc. (19 dc)
  • Repeat the sequence of row 2 and 3 till desired length.

Crochet Ripple Stitch:

I love crocheting this pattern, its relatively simple, rhythmic and soothing, but playing with colours in this way is also energising, exciting and a lot of fun. This pattern contains some advance stitches. There’s something magical and mesmerising about the way the ripple effect makes the colours sing and dance next to each other.

Abbreviations:

  • ch __ chain
  • sc __ single crochet
  • dc __ double crochet
  • inc __ double crochet increase
  • x __ repeat

Material:

  • dk yarn in any colour of your choice.
  • 4mm hook size

Pattern:

  • make a chain that is a multiple of 17 plus 3 stitches. For example start with ch 37.
  • Row 1: skip ch “(count as 1st 1dc), 1dc in 4th ch from hook, inc in next 2 stitches, *skip 1 ch, 1 dc in next ch* x 5, skip 1 ch, 3 inc in next 3 stitches” x 2. (34 dc)
  • Row 2: ch1, 1sc in each stitch across the row. (34 sc)
  • Repeat the sequence of row 1 and 2 till desired length.

Alpine Crochet Stitch:

If you are a texture stitch lover then this stitch is truly a love. Add a new crochet stitch to your repertoire with the alpine stitch. It’s easy to learn, but it creates a unique texture that you’d never guess is so simple to work. If you know single and double crochet, you can do this stitch. Alpine stitch is great for blankets, accessories, and garments. It would also be a great texture for a pillow. 

Abbreviations:

  • ch __ chain
  • sc __ single crochet
  • dc __ double crochet
  • inc __ double crochet increase
  • x __ repeat

Material:

  • dk yarn in any colour of your choice.
  • 4mm hook size

Pattern:

  • make a chain that is a multiple of 2 plus 1 stitches. For example start with ch 19.
  • Row 1: 1sc in 3rd ch from hook. 1sc in each st across the hook. (17 sc)
  • Row 2: ch3 (count as 1st dc), 1dc in each stitch across the row. (17 dc)
  • Row 3: ch1, 1sc in each stitch across the row. (17 sc)
  • Row 4: ch3 (count as 1st dc), 1fptr in row 2, *1dc, 1fptr* repeat across the row. (17 dc)
  • Repeat the sequence of row 3 and 4 till desired length.
